The grammar bridge — a textbook to read before the drill books, not instead of them.

TRY! teaches all 127 of its N3 patterns inside eleven reading-and-listening texts — blogs, notices, recipes, a job interview — with a one-line English translation under every usage note and JLPT-format questions closing each chapter. That makes it the gentlest entry into exam-shaped study, and the right main pick in the gap straight after Genki II or Minna II, when Japanese-first drilling still feels early. Know two things the marketing won't tell you: the N3 volume has no full mock test (that's an N4/N5 feature), and the 2023 "revised edition" is a CD-less reissue of the 2014 revision, not new content.
